Timing depends on the admission channel, quota allocation, the competent Single Immigration Desk, and the Consulate. In quota cases, the statutory Nulla Osta term is generally 60 days from allocation of the quota, not necessarily from the first online filing. The visa phase follows once the authorization is available and the employer has confirmed the job offer.

Within 15 days of entry, the employer and worker complete and digitally transmit the residence contract through the Single Immigration Desk procedure. The worker then files the subordinate-work residence-permit application through the designated postal channel and attends the Police Headquarters appointment for identification and fingerprints.

You do not normally need to wait for the physical permit card. Work may begin after lawful entry with the Nulla Osta and visa once the employer has filed the mandatory employment notification (UNILAV), while the residence-contract and permit formalities are completed.

The Flow Decree (Decreto Flussi) is the government framework that allocates quota-based entries for seasonal and non-seasonal work. Current programming may cover several years, with specific sectors, countries, filing windows, and annual allocations. Separate statutory categories can enter outside these quotas. The initial visa and entry are sponsored by the employer named in the Nulla Osta. After a subordinate-work residence permit is valid, the worker is not permanently tied to that employer: a new compliant employment relationship and the required labour notifications are normally sufficient. Special permit categories and changes before the initial procedure is completed require a separate assessment.

Yes. After obtaining the residence permit, eligible relatives can apply through the Family Reunification Visa route, subject to the sponsor, income, housing and relationship requirements in force.
