Everything you need to know to reunite your family in Italy
Family Reunification allows Italian citizens and foreign residents with a valid permit to bring eligible family members to Italy. Eligible relatives include the spouse, minor children, adult children with total disability, and parents over 65 who are dependent and without adequate support in their home country.
For Italian citizens, the process is facilitated with reduced timelines. Foreign residents need at least two years of continuous residence, a minimum income starting at โฌ7,002.84 (increasing by 50% per family member), and suitable housing. The Nulla Osta is filed through the ALI portal.
The family residence permit is valid for two years and renewable. It grants unrestricted work authorization, National Health Service enrollment, and after five years, eligibility for the EU long-term permit.
