International authentication for cross-border public documents
Under the 1961 Hague Apostille Convention, an Apostille certifies the authenticity of the signature, the capacity in which the signer acted and, where applicable, the identity of the seal or stamp on a public document. It does not certify the truth of the document's content, the accuracy of a translation or automatic acceptance by the receiving authority.
We handle both foreign public documents intended for Italy and Italian public documents intended for another Convention country. Before filing, the document's country of origin, intended destination, public-document status and the Convention's operation between those countries must be checked. EU rules, bilateral treaties or subject-specific exemptions may also remove or change authentication requirements. The Apostille is issued in the document's country of origin by an authority designated by that State; the competent office cannot be inferred from a universal ministry list.
Authentication and translation are separate questions. Depending on the receiving authority, the accepted route may involve an Italian asseverazione, consular certification, an officially recognized translator abroad or a multilingual form. We map the route before work begins, verify the completed certificate and coordinate the destination-compliant translation package. Processing times depend on the issuing authority and document type.

Some receiving authorities require a particular translation-certification route in addition to authentication of the original document. The accepted method is country-, authority- and procedure-specific.
